Matthew Beverley welcomed as President of the MHEA – Materials Handling Engineers Association.
What a great couple of days spent at the BULKEX Conference 2024. We enjoyed a busy exhibition, with many fantastic seminars promoting industry best practices and, of course, the MHEA Excellence Awards!
I’d like to thank all the companies who presented some very high-profile technical papers and was delighted our guests from Biffa – Damien O’Neill and Mark Windebank could join us alongside Rory Underwood MBE DL
Also, a special note on the technical paper that Damien delivered on the second day, it was very well received by the membership!
As always, huge thanks to Linda White and Kieron White, who organised and delivered another successful conference attracting the very best of our industry peers.
The two-day event culminated this afternoon when I was officially handed the position of President of the Materials Handling Engineers Association
I want to thank James Bullock, the outgoing President, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him on the committee.
It’s important to emphasise that I am part of an outstanding team of volunteer Executives Committee Members. Together, we strive to promote and improve the bulk materials handling sector via combined expertise and industry experience.
This will include:
☑ Increasing membership engagement by conducting site visits, targeted training and CPD sessions
☑ Expanding our membership and reach both in the UK and internationally
☑ End-user involvement to support strategies that will develop talent in the industry (through apprenticeship schemes and on-the-job learning).
☑ Promoting industry best practices and lean manufacturing principles, reducing our members’ environmental impact and carbon footprint
☑ Lobbying government, key stakeholders and decision-makers on strategy and initiatives. Supporting the innovation that our sector is heavily involved in makes investing more attractive for future sustainability growth.
I look forward to welcoming Ben Dunn, MD of Rossi Gear Motors, my new Vice President, for a two-year term before he takes over as President in October 2026.
Over the next few weeks there will be some announcements on the website outlining our new initiatives and plans.
I look forward to serving you all. Thank you.
Matthew Beverley
MHEA President
